Hollowing the Log
We wanted to share this which shows just how immense the giant sequoia logs are. This picture shows our log hollower with the 7ft chain saw getting ready to hollow the log. It will take him a couple days of hard work to get the job done.

Giant Sequoia Logs
It is difficult to appreciate the size of the Giant Sequoias because neighboring trees are so large. They invoke an awe inspiring, ant-like perspective in every visitor that walks the forests where they grow. The largest of the Sequoias are as tall as an average 26-story building, and their diameters exceed the width of many city streets. With a height of 275', a Circumference of 103' and a diameter of 33', the largest Sequoia is called the General Sherman. The oldest living Sequoias were nearly 1,000 years old when Christ was born, making them nearly 3000 years old today! They've seen civilizations come and go, survived countless fires and long periods of drought, and continue to flourish -- inspiring generations of admirers.

Tragically, less than 15% of original giants remain standing today. We recently came to know the owners of the largest privately owned grove of Sequoia Redwoods; they've adopted a policy that completely protects the remaining live old growth Sequoias on ... more

Maddie's House
We were so moved by Maddie's story that we wanted to share it.
-------------------------------------------------

Dana,

This is an email that my husband sent out about Maddie's House.  It has an attachment to the article that ran in the local paper.

Believe it or not, the park just opened last Saturday.  It took FOREVER to get it all done.  Maddie's House was up a long time ago but we just couldn't get in to see it or play on it.

We are thrilled with it.  The town is very excited and it is just what we imagined.  I am so proud to have your play house represent our girl.

Thank you so much for all your help.

Here is an article from Saturday opening of Maddie's House. Nice day. Hope things are well down south.

DWL Halloween
We have been feverishly busy this whole year, but still found a little time to play this Halloween season. Johnny decided to take the challenge to create a Predator pumpkin this year.

We all think he did a pretty good job. But he is going to have a lot of work topping that for next year!

New Shooting Gallery!
We're excited about our latest creation: a 16 gun, 70 target laser shooting gallery! On the inside it's the most technologically advanced shooting gallery on the planet. It's a network of almost 100 small computers, each one complete with their own animatronic controller and audio player, and one Windows Vista central computer.  On the outside it's just downright fun to play. Among the dozens of interactive pop up characters and fly up cans, we placed 5 heckling characters: a grandpa rabbit, a mean ol' buzzard, a crazy crow, a goofy goat, and a singing, banjo playin' alligator in an outhouse. Kids and adults have been flocking to the shooting gallery since the day it opened, and initial revenue numbers suggest a 100% return on investment in less than 1 year is possible!
Great locations for shooting galleries include high tourist areas, themed restaurants, family entertainment centers, miniature golf courses, fairgrounds, amusement parks and more.

New Country Cottages!
Introducing our newest yet simplest playhouses!

Country Cottage - Down to Earth version is easily installed in about 30 minutes on flat ground. You’ll love the crooked windows, and gently swayed roof. It breaks down and stacks on a pallet, and is incredibly simple to install. It comes unfinished so you and your family can save costs and enjoy finishing it together. It’s built from redwood and cedar… the best wood Mother Nature provides. Priced at $3500, it’s perfect for the youngest toddler, slimmest budget, and most difficult to access play area.

Country Cottage - High Water version starts with the same clubhouse as the Down to Earth, than we elevate it on a 3’ tall platform, and add a small stair case. It comes unfinished. Priced at $4500, and installed in about 2 hours, with no heavy equipment, and minimal site prep, it’s a fantastic way to save big money on site prep, installation and shipping costs over our much more ambitious tree houses. You can add a curved s... more
