Base Model Tree House
This is our base Play fort. With a 6' tall tree stump, and a sturdy Play fort, this is the ultimate is quality and fun. It includes the log, entry porch, door, and the rustic barn style Play fort.
Country Playhouse Down to Earth
It's a cleverly simple playhouse you can install in about 30 minutes on flat ground. You'll love the slightly crooked windows, and gently swayed roof. It breaks down and stacks on a pallet, and is incredibly simple to install. It comes unfinished so you and your family can save costs and enjoy finishing it together. It's built from redwood and cedarÆ’ the best wood mother nature provides. It's perfect for the youngest toddler, slimmest budget, and most difficult to access play area.
Country Playhouse High Water
The high water version starts with the Country Playhouse and we elevate it on a 3' tall platform, and add a small staircase. It comes unfinished so you and your family can save costs and enjoy finishing it together. Installs in about 2 hours with no heavy equipment and minimal site prep, it's a fantastic way to save big money on site prep, installation and shipping costs over our much more ambitious Play forts. You can add a curved scoop slide.
Country Playhouse Tree Top
The Tree Top Version is by far the best value for the money spent. We take the same Country Playhouse, and set it on top of one of our oversize Play fort logs. From there we add a roof dormer, balcony, staircase, monkey bars, log window, spiral slide and more. Because this model breaks down and consolidates better on a truck, shipping is half the cost of our other similar sized Play forts. You can also install it on a packed gravel pad instead of a concrete one! The log weighs several thousand pounds, so you'll still have the need for a rented forklift or crane. It comes unfinished so you and your family can save costs and enjoy finishing it together. All in all this is a great Play fort and customers will save an average of about $8000 over our other similar Play forts. The savings are spread over price, shipping, site prep, and installation. That's right, we were thinkin' mighty thrifty thoughts when we came up with this model. It's faster and cheaper to build, ship and install, so we're passing the savings on to you!
Walswick Makeover
When Martha Walswick lost her husband following a three-year fight with cancer, this brave woman told her nine children, ages four to 21 years old, that they needed to pull together for what she called their "new adventure." The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition crew knew they had to help rebuild this family's hopes and dreams and quickly asked Daniels Wood Land to lend a hand. So of course we jumped right in with both feet and in less than a week this amazing Play fort/playset was born. We started with an Original Play fort and paired it up with an incredible log with tons of natural character. We then added an additional ground level playhouse, extended balcony, scoop slide, and a wooden stage with 2 custom cartoon bear carvings. DWL is proud to have been part of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show and we're pleased that we were able to bring some fun back into the Walswick family's lives.

This mysterious Victorian style mansion features a rod iron weather vane, coffin style door, ominous chimney rock climb, and chilling talking doorbell...and that‘s just the outside. Once inside this eerie playfort you‘ll soon discover a cobweb infested bookcase that slides open to reveal a secret passageway. Just creep your way up the secret ladder inside the chimney and into the forbidden upstairs chamber!
Rose Parade
In 2003 we met a set designer (and current customer) at a home and garden show. She was working for The Home Depot on a new Rose Parade float. She was so impressed by our Play forts that she asked us to come up with a concept design. After a 15 minute sketch we she left with our concept for two Play forts which were connected via an elevated bridge, sitting atop two large redwood logs and the covered with flowers. Our quick sketch was so imaginative that it won the 2003 Rose Parade's Grand Marshall Trophy for the Most Creative and Design.
Suncadia
Back in 2007 we built a couple of amazing commercial play structures for a resort in the beautiful mountains of Washington state. Both structures are ASTM and ADA compliant providing the ultimate in safety and fun. The Mining Town is one of our favorite designs. The redwood and cedar 7' x 7' barn style Play fort sits atop a giant old growth redwood log with a mine shaft entrance and exit. From the Play fort you can make your way to the trestle, across the swing bridge and down the slide connected to a second giant log. We added all sorts of rusty accents and faux ore carts to give it a real rustic feel. The land it sits upon has a rich mining history and the Play fort lends itself well to the overall feel of the historic site. The second structure called the Twin Towers, is nestled amongst the trees and provides another earthy play space for the children to enjoy. With two oversized Play forts, oversized logs, a balcony, slide, and staircase kids can immerse themselves in endless fun while reaping the benefits of the great outdoors.
Makeover
Six years ago Ken and Doreen Silva became foster parents for the first time, thus began the beginning of a long rewarding journey that lay ahead of them. Within a few years they opened their home to over a dozen children, some with special needs and disorders, and adopted three boys. They still continue to foster others and have made it their mission to try and find a home for every child abandoned without a home in the Rhode Island foster care system. The Silva‘s one salary income from Ken‘s employment as a garbage truck driver has put all of their financial resources towards raising their children. Recently, the Silvas were shocked to learn that their children tested positive for having high levels of lead in their system. Upon investigation, they discovered that their home contained dangerous levels of lead throughout the home and the backyard. With their limited resources, the Silvas tried to fix the areas of concern but the cosmetic improvements they made did not even begin to resolve the problem at hand. The Health Department informed the Silvas that they may take the foster children out of the home if they did not remedy the problem. Daniels Wood Land was asked to create the FUN in the backyard for the kids. The main question was what are the main interests of all these boys? We found out that Ken Silva also works at Seekonk Speedway on the track crew where he used to race cars. So we built an original Play fort with steps, deck, and monkey bars. We wanted to incorporate a car into this unique outdoor play fort but we were limited to space in the backyard. That didn‘t stop us we put the car in anyway! With a whole pit crew!
Crossroads Fellowship Church
This fun Little Rascals inspired creation was built back in 2007 by our creative design team. It features 3 multi-level Play forts, stairs, a bridge, a climbing wall with rock style grips, and a wave slide. The overall height of the structure was less than 11' tall, and the highest deck measured only 4' off the ground making this the perfect stomping grounds for the youngest members of the Crossroads Fellowship Church in Odessa, TX. The entire structure measured 22' x 16' and was coated with a fire retardant before being installed indoors.
New York City Charter School
This crazy climber was built in 2008 for a Charter School in New York City. This massive play structure measures approximately 27' x 43' and sits on the rooftop of a Wall Street building in Manhattan. Constructed from redwood, cedar, and pine it consists of 4 6' x 6' balconies, 4 ground level decks underneath, 2 staircases, and 3 swing bridges. It also features 3 turbo slides, 2 climbing walls, 2 sets of monkey bars, and a climbing net. This commercial play structure is safe, fun, and is ADA and ASTM compliant.
Tree Top Adventure
A key element of the Memphis Botanic Garden's "My Big Backyard” project, we built and installed two large Play forts connected by an elevated rope swing bridge. The largest "Birdhouse” is 300 sqft and over 36' tall and is placed upon a giant 10' diameter Sequoia log. Protruding from the top of the Play fort is a perch featuring a large bluebird sculpted out of foam and hard coated with polyurea. The other Play fort includes a turbo spiral slide and has a wonderful view of the "Backyard” project. Due to the immense size of the structures, most of the fabrication occurred onsite over a three week period.
Winter Park Train
We built this Play fort for a ski resort in Winter Park, Colorado. The railroad is a big part of their heritage and they wanted to celebrate that in their new play structure. The steam engine was built using wood, plastic, and encapsulated foam. The steam locomotive is supported by a log and a hand-carved engineer bear. A staircase and deck lead into the cab while the boiler is really a crawl tube with a window. We even added a real light, moose antlers, and lots of rusty paint so that it looks as though it has been there for a hundred years. It looked so real that a couple of Union Pacific workers stopped in to ask us where we got this little steam engine and were amazed to hear that it was fake and that we built it. It has to be one of the most exciting play structures we've ever built.
