In summer 2006 we created a 150‘ wide x 25‘ high facade to cover up an existing livestock building at the Fresno Fairgrounds. Built to represent a mountain town during the 1800‘s gold rush, the facade included a hotel, barber shop, sheriff‘s office, school, and a water mill. We disguised the livestock entrance to look like an old abandoned mine complete with mine cars and tracks. A working water wheel adds motion while real sluice boxes allow fairgoers to pan for gold. For the fair, this interactiveness, as well as selling sponsorship signs, is a great way to earn some additional revenue.
