Following the incredible success from the Hollywood promotion, we were called upon to complete the entire Black Pearl, this time for Comic-Con 2007 in San Diego. The final piece was over 25' high, listing to one side, and wrecked on a rock cave. Attendees waited in long lines to walk through the finished interior to see exclusive photographs taken by director Jerry Bruckheimer, as well as costumes, props, and models used during filming. Two large external TV displays showed clips from the film while cave sounds and pirate music completed the setting. As before, EPS foam was used to finish the ship and create the rocks. Polyurea was then applied before primer and final paint.
After San Diego, the Black Pearl set sail on a tour of North America. The journey began in Los Angeles just in time for Halloween. Then it was off to Toronto Canada to be part of the Grey Cup festivities before spending Christmas in New York City. Finally, the ship celebrated the New Year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
