Located near the entrance of Sequoia National Park, McDermont Field House is the site of our largest theming project to date. Positioned against the north wall of the facility is an enormous, 60' tall faux sequoia tree. The tree was built out of foam which was secured to a steel skeleton. Then, our sculptors hand-carved, that's right, hand-carved, all the bark detail and burn scars. Once sculpted, the tree was coated with a hard coat before being meticulously painted, again, by hand. The inside of the tree features individual rooms which are available for rent. And for the ultimate party spot, a real log cabin is available, perched over 50' in the air. The large opening in the front is the receiving platform for a zip line which soars over 4 stories above the ground.
Right next to the tree is a massive rock climbing wall. This wall was constructed with concrete that was sculpted and dyed to meet the clients specifications. 4 different routes with varying difficulties are available for climbers while an auto-belay system keeps them safely anchored. And to finish the scene, we added lots of foliage, vines, and other greenery. There's even a bald eagle returning to her nest of eaglets.
Surrounding all this fun are elevated walkways which we have adorned with wood and iron railings. Real cedar logs were spun to create a uniform shape while iron spindles were locked in between.
