Daniels Wood Land teamed up with Gentle Giant Ltd and Ultra Productions to produce this 15'6" traveling giant Eddie Murphy bust to promote 20th Century Fox's film "Meet Dave". Daniels Wood Land was presented with the challenge to promote the film with a traveling giant head. Our creative team came up with the concept of creating a massive 12ft head mounted on a custom trailer which cut down on traveling expenses and allowed for the largest head possible to travel the country's roadways.
Gentle Giant went to work and provided DWL with digital data of Eddie Murphy's bust to construct the giant Ed. We used our large format CNC mill to construct the head in over 100 pieces. Care was taken to assemble the pieces as we got to work on the custom trailer and airplane style stairs & doorway.
Inside the head it is just not all hot air, incorporated into the custom trailer is a self contained custom designed & built hydraulic system which can raise the head nearly 4ft. This system allows the head to travel at legal roadway heights and once on site to be raised to the necessary 15' 6".
Big Ed is traveling the country to promote the film and give fans a chance to really get inside Mr Murphy's head!
